Work Week Before the New School Year Starts

Monday 7-28-2014

This  is the week we all come to work to get the classrooms ready for the new school year. Today we took down the bulletin boards and the paper that was on them and the boarders.

We also empty  out all of the toys from the centers and put them away in the closet and wiped down the shelves.

We had a staff meeting this morning and talked about what is going to happen for the new school year. Like which children are moving into the 4 year old class. We also talked about what to do on a daily basis like lessons plans what the aides are suppose to do. It was a good meeting.

We also took everything out of the cabinets and wiped down the shelves and reorganized  the cabinets. We also relabeled the containers.

Last Day of School

7-25-2014

It has been a long school year today was the last day of school. We had water  play today the children seemed to have a good time.  The parents brought a potluck lunch with lots of food.
This morning I played a game with two children called scrub. One child would pretend to wash the alphabet letter block with soap and the other child would pretend to dry and I was suppose to pretend to rise it with water it was fun. Then we would change roles.

This afternoon I played catch with a little boy and roll the ball with a little girl. The little  boy brought me a rubber ball that had hello kitty pictures on it. The little girl brought me a light green basketball and we sat on the ground and rolled it to each other.

It was also  the last day  of 5 children who is leaving to go to kindergarten. It was hard to say good bye to them.

Two children gave me a present. One child gave me a plant in a mason jar and the other child gave me a bag that you put together. I thought that was very sweet of them.

One Year

7-24-2014

I have been at my job for a year. In that time frame I have learned  much about being a teacher.
I am also taking online classes going for my Child Development Associate degree. Through these classes I have learned  much about child development. I think you learn more when you are getting hands on experience.
I have seen children come and go through the preschool. It's amazing how much you have an effect on a child.
Today a child  gave me a gift for no reason at all.  The child comes in and said here Ms Erin for you. It was a beaded  bracelet.
Today we also went on our last field trip for the summer. We went to Chuck E Cheese. The children had a good time.
My coworkers and I all wrote in a children's book called Oh The Places You'll Go to give to a child who is going to kindergarten. That was very hard for me because the child and I have a bonded by playing games and having conversations
